Hello and welcome to GCCC’s Saturdays Team. My name is James and I captain the Saturday XI and have done so for the past season. I have played for the club for over 13 years and made my debut for the Saturday XI when I was just 14 years old, so I can appreciate the importance of getting colts into adults cricket when they feel confident to do so. We only play friendly cricket on a Saturday, however don’t be fooled by our pleasant demeanour, we are very competitive and any misdemeanours/poor play can result in fines (fortunately for frequent offenders fines are £1 at most). We are an extremely sociable and welcoming bunch, and enjoy spending our weekends together both on and off the field (normally found at the club’s bar before, during and after games). We tend to play mostly 40 over games throughout the season (light permitting), but do on occasion play ‘timed’ and ‘win, lose, draw’ depending on the oppositions preference. Both myself and Vice Captain Euan West try to ensure that everyone makes some form of contribution to the game, and no one player will do everything. This includes the all-important teas for which GCCC is famous for, with each player expected to provide teas for one home game per season (with a £50 budget provided by match fees). Training and selection is from 6pm on a Wednesday during the summer, and indoor winter training will be available on varying days. Any questions please do not hesitate to contact me on the link found on this page, and I look forward to seeing you at GCCC in the near future. All the best James Burgess
We will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
